When you use TithiTap, we collect information necessary to personalise your Panchang and calendar experience. This includes:
- Profile & Contact Details: First Name, Last Name, Display Name, and Email Address (collected when you register or authenticate).
- Birth & Astrological Details: Date of Birth (DOB), Time of Birth (TOB), Place of Birth (POB), and Gotra (used to compute customised regional timings and personal profile sheets).
- Precise Location Data: Geographic coordinates (Latitude and Longitude) to calculate accurate, region-specific astronomical events (such as Sunrise, Sunset, and Tithi transitions). You can choose to enter your city manually if you opt out of GPS permissions.
- App Preferences: Display language, preferred Panchang system/Region (e.g., Gujarat, South India), Sect/Tradition (e.g., Smārta), and Theme/Appearance preferences (such as Elder Mode).
- Device Identifiers: A unique device ID is processed to link anonymous guest accounts to the local database.
2. How We Use Your Information
The information we collect is used to:
- Provide accurate, location-based Panchang calculations tailored to your region
- Enable account creation and management features
- Send festival reminders and tithi notifications if you have enabled them
- Improve app performance, fix issues, and enhance the overall user experience
3. Third-Party Services
TithiTap uses Firebase (provided by Google) for authentication and data storage. Firebase processes data in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. We recommend reviewing Google's privacy documentation for details on how they handle your data. We do not sell or share your personal information with any third-party advertising services.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using Firebase infrastructure, which employs industry-standard encryption and access controls. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the app's services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data from our systems within a reasonable period. Aggregated, anonymised data that cannot identify you may be retained indefinitely for analytics and improvement purposes.
